The Story of Little Lambs Preschool by: Danielle Petersen
How we started
In 2009 my family and I lived in McKinney. I was a teacher at my older boys school and eventually left for maternity leave. Once my maternity leave was up, I could not bring myself to leave our newest baby. So I decided to babysit a few of my friends babies to try to continue to help our family financially and still be able to stay home. I begin having other moms reaching out that were feeling the same way I had been. They needed a safe, loving, family environment where they could have peace of mind when they dropped off their little one and so Little Lambs Preschool came together. With God guiding our steps, we knew this was something we wanted to be able to provide for families. My sister, Mrs. Lindsey, soon joined me so that she too, could be with her daughter everyday as well. Together, we ran Little Lambs Preschool out of my home for 13 years.
Where we are now
Fast forward to 2023, my husband Jason became the pastor of Christ United Church. This was a life changing blessing from God. The church had the space available to have a preschool and they asked me if I wanted to have Little Lambs move out of our home and into that space. Prayerfully we made the decision to sell our home, move to Blue Ridge, and open the new Little Lambs Preschool! What a huge leap of faith, that has blessed us in more ways than we could have ever imagined.

We knew that on this new journey we had to stick to exactly what God had led us to do all of those years before, which was to provide a safe, loving, and family centered environment. We have loved every minute of creating the space, forming the best staff, and praying for each and every family that may come through. So many different people have poured their time, money, talents, prayers, and efforts to help Little Lambs Preschool become what it is today. We are forever thankful. We are still growing and still letting God lead the way. None of this would be possible without HIM. What a blessing it is to love on and teach HIS Little Lambs each and everyday.
Meet the Team
Danielle Petersen
Hello! My name is Danielle Petersen and I am the director of Little Lambs Preschool. I have been an owner and director of a preschool for over 13 years before moving to Blue Ridge. I graduated from Texas A&M of Commerce with a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and Education. Upon graduating I obtained my elementary teacher certification through the state of Texas. I have over 20 years of experience in education. I have taught in public and private school, Pre-K through 1st Grade, before transitioning into my role as a Preschool director.
I am a wife to my sweet husband Jason Petersen, who is also the pastor at Christ United Church. We have five wonderful children, one beautiful daughter-in-law (Mrs. Jenna), a new grandbaby on his way, two sweet dogs, and one little turtle. Outside of Preschool life, I enjoy spending time with my family and watching my kids participate in all of their activities. I currently serve as the youth director for Christ United Church and love being an active part of our church family. Our family loves helping around our community.
Lindsey Elder
Hi! My name is Lindsey and I am a teacher at Little Lambs Preschool and I am also the assistant director. I have been working alongside, my sister, Danielle, for over 15 years with Little Lambs. I attended college at Grayson County College and have worked in the education field for over 17 years.
I am married to my husband, Brad and we have two amazing daughters that attend high school in Blue Ridge. We love watching our girls participate in their sports and activities. We also enjoy being outdoors. We spend most of our spare time taking care of our farm, where we have cows, goats, pigs, a donkey and two adorable Australian Shepherds.
Jenna Petersen
Hi! My name is Jenna, and I am the teacher for the two-year-old class at Little Lambs Preschool. I graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and have worked with kids all throughout my life.
I married my high school sweetheart, Brandon Petersen. We live in McKinney, but love this little community. In our free time, we enjoy spending time with our family and friends, helping out wherever we can at the church, and doing various art projects together.
